Despite its “civilized” start, this trip is pure wilderness. After a few miles of interstate, you’ll find yourself in rugged ranges and wide-open spaces as you roll through beautiful Poudre Canyon, into north park and over Berthoud Pass. If you want to get outta town, this tour does that and more!

Warning: Road hazards include sand and sometimes snow. Large stretches of CO-125 are open range so look out for animals. Check weather conditions before starting this ride and consider packing extra gear. Check your fuel level in walden; it’s a bit far to the next pump.

Let’s get vertical. You’ll climb thousands of feet in a matter of minutes along trail ridge road as you take in postcards panoramas. There may be gold in there thar creeks along the peak to peak scenic byway ( you can even stop and do some panning ). But the aspens in autumn are well worth their weight in gold alone!

You may not find gold, but if you’re looking for a beautiful day trip, your prospects are good. You’ll meander along the winding curves of Coal Creek Canyon and through sweeping turns past old mines on the peak to peak scenic byway and through Golden Gate Canyon. At the end of it all, you can still find the mother lode at the Coors Brewery in Golden.

Warnings: watch for stray wildlife, water,rocks and even ice on the mountain roads; beware of sand and loose gravel along the switchbacks

Get ready for an altitude adjustment. This loop takes you on a ear-popping trip up Bear Creek Canyon and along the highest paved road in North America. If you brought oxygen, get it out now. On the trip down you’ll enjoy a twisty run through the towering peaks lining Clear Creek Canyon.

Warnings: Look for signs “Motorcyclists use Caution” as you begin up bear creek canyon. Hazards include bicyclists, sand rocks and some decreasing radius turns.

The view from the Pikes Peak is said to have been the inspiration for “America the Beautiful.” This tour shows you why, as the views are as beautiful as it gets. Sweeping panorama’s will take your breath away in Pikes National Forest and along the South Platte River. Don’t be embarrassed to sing it out loud. Frankly, it’s the only way to get it out of your head.

Warnings: Use caution on well-graded dirt during in climate weather on portion of the loop between Schaffer Crossing and Sphinx Park.
